Running a Shopify store isn’t a full time job… it’s five full time jobs as you probably know. You have to be head of marketing, logistics, product development, & so much more. To keep it all straight you turn to the trusted Shopify app store to help with reporting, but how do you know which one to choose? Well, often time that depends on what you’re looking for, some apps are strong with inventory management, others with marketing campaigns & many, many, MANY different sales reporting apps (sigh).

Not to worry, we’ve crunched the numbers (that’s what we’re good at) and we’ve come away with out top five Shopify reporting apps along with their strengths and weaknesses. These are apps that we’ve tested on our own site and feel confident you can’t go wrong with any of them.

5. Report Toaster

Report Toaster by Cloudlab offers Shopify merchants a solution for custom reporting and analytics across multiple sales channels. It includes over 120 pre-built reports and supports custom report creation, enabling detailed insights into areas like sales, shipping costs, and transaction fees. With features like scheduled reporting and some integrations with popular tools like Slack and PayPal, it’s good for businesses looking for a versatile reporting app. However, without a shopify pixel data is limited on customers who don’t purchase from your site.

Strengths
  • Breath of Reporting (Sales, Inventory, Financial)
  • Has a wide range of columns to select from to customize
Weaknesses
  • Dashboard can quickly become overwhelming and difficult to navigate for a new user

3. Report Pundit

Report Pundit is a feature-packed app with over 100 pre-built reports, making it ideal for Shopify merchants looking for quick, insightful data from sales trends to inventory levels. The app’s customizability and scheduled reporting add flexibility, allowing users to create reports tailored to their specific needs. I did like their AI chart builder tool as well, it seems unique to report pundit. A beginner can come in and quickly learn how to use report pundit, their custom reports have been the easiest to navigate thus far. On the downside, there still has not been an app with first party funnel reporting, report pundit offers limit reporting on this if you connect your GA4 account.

Strengths
  • They offer a free report building service
  • Run reports on a schedule
Weaknesses
  • No nesting reports with multiple dimensions

2. Better Reports

Better Reports has over 1,000 5-star reviews for reason, they’ve found the beauty in simplicity. They have over 100 canned reports that are nicely grouped by report type in their embedded shopify app and report metrics blazingly fast. I don’t know about others but I really appreciate an app that I can open from the admin dashboard (chef’s kiss). I also liked their color banding on their reports to spot high and low values on any given report. This app also gives a user the ability to customize the dimensions and metrics they choose for a report. However, like the others this app only reports on customer who have completed a purchase so no funnel data as of now.

Strengths
  • Ease of use
  • Depth of reports by category
Weaknesses
  • No nesting reports with multiple dimensions

1. BrightWorks Analytics

WOW! We’re humbled and honored to take the top spot in our own rankings! If you’ve made it this far, let us introduce ourselves. We’re BrightWorks Analytics and we do things differently than the other reporting apps mentioned above. The other apps are great at reporting on sales that have already taken place, but what about the customers who didn’t make a purchase? We specialize in helping merchants find insights on those customers so that they can improve their conversion rate. Our app was inspired by Adobe Analytics which is what all the billion dollar ecommerce sites use to track advanced metrics for their site. We brought the same capabilities to Shopify, specifically for Shopify.

We offer the easiest drag and drop report builder on the shopify app store with the ability to nest dimensions as deep as your data goes. We have over 18 dimensions and 28 metrics to choose from with the majority not available in the other apps like bounce rate and device type.

To be honest, we don’t compete with the other apps on this list, we offer metrics that compliment the other apps nicely that you can only get with us. If you like what you hear, lets get in touch… our email is [email protected] or start your 14 day free trial.

Strengths
  • Ease of use drag & drop report builder
  • Save reports across team members
  • Spot leaks in the customer journey
  • Embedded directly into the Shopify Admin Portal
Weaknesses
  • Others have exporting features (we’ll probably have that by the time you’re reading this)
